Minehead Middle School Strive for excellence

Religious Education

RE:

Across upper and lower school, we follow the Somerset Agreed syllabus for RE. In lower school, this reflects an overview of the world religions and focused topics of study on Judaism, Hinduism and Islam. In the upper school, we develop these skills through looking at Judaism and where Jewish people find answers to life's big questions; considering the Christian term 'agape', and reflecting on our own beliefs about caring for others and learning the story of Siddhartha Gautama and the origins of Buddhism, linking to the stories from the Bhagavad Gita.

In Years 7 and 8, children will complete an independent half-termly project, which aims to enthuse and engage them with their learning and is based on the topics that they are studying.
