Minehead Middle School Strive for excellence

Communication

At Minehead Middle School we know how important it is for parents/carers to be kept informed about their child's progress and experiences at school.  We therefore offer regular communications via our weekly newsletter as well as reports regarding your child's progress and opportunities for parents/carers to visit the school for parental meetings.  In addition to this we are keen to hear from all parents/carers so if you would like to visit the school please do call reception to book an appointment.  We look forward to welcoming you to Minehead Middle School.

 

Open Evening 

Our annual Open Evening for prospective Year 5 students and their families takes place in the Autumn term.  This important visit to the school, provides opportunities to meet staff and students and visit all of the areas of Minehead Middle School and ask any questions you may have.  Below is a copy of the presentation from our Open Evening in November 2023.

 

Parent/carers Meetings 

We welcome visits from parents/carers to our school and look forward to showing you around.  In addition to this we hold our Meet the Teacher/Tutor evening in the Autumn term so that parents/carers can see how their child is settling into their new school, speak to staff and ask any questions they may have.  Throughout the year there are parents evenings for each year group where you will be able to make appointments to speak to your child's individual subject teachers regarding their curriculum and academic progress.  Appointments can be made using our online booking system. 

 

Reports

Throughout the year, students attainment grades, progress towards achieving their end of year target grade, attitude to learning, attendance and behaviour is reported on and will be followed by our parents evenings.  The termly reports will focus on attainment in all subjects using (GDS - Greater Depth Standard, EXS - Expected Standard, WTS - Working Towards Expected Standard, BLW - Working Below Expected Standard).  Full reports are are issued to parents/carers annually and will include the attainment grade at which your child is working and targets for future work in each subject. 

 

Weekly Newsletter 

The school publishes a weekly newsletter, which is available by MCAS and on the school website.  This is essential reading and contains useful dates, news, details of forthcoming events and trips, sports results etc. 

 

If you have welfare concerns, please contact your child's class teacher (KS2) or tutor (KS3) who is the first port of call for all communication.
